What We Believe
We are a community of people brought together by our belief in the truth of the Gospel.
The knowledge and belief of the truth as stated in our Articles of Faith are necessary to sound doctrine and therefore a requisite for Christian fellowship.
The Bible
We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, consisting of sixty-six books, as the plenary and verbally inspired word of God, and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; I Corinthians 2:13; Psalm 119:105).
God
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit; Creator of heaven and earth; Spirit, Light, Love, and Truth; eternal, almighty, infallible, unchangeable, infinitely wise, just, and holy (Luke 3:21-22; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4).
Christ
Person of Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, the eternal Word manifested in flesh, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man (John 1:1, 14, 18; 1 Timothy 2:5; Luke 1:35; Colossians 2:9).
The Death of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice receiving in Himself the penalty of man’s sin; and that all who believe in Him and receive Him as Personal Savior are justified on the grounds of His shed blood (1 Thessalonians 5:10; Titus 2:14; John 3:16; 1 Timothy 2:6; Hebrews 9:26; Romans 5:1).
The Resurrection and Present Work of Christ
We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us – as High Priest and Advocate (Romans 10:9; Ephesians 1:20; Romans. 8:34; Hebrews 9:11; Acts 1:11; Ephesians 4:8).
The Return of Christ
We believe in “that blessed hope”, the personal, bodily and imminent return of our Lord in the air for all believers in Christ; followed by the Tribulation, and then the personal, visible and glorious return of Christ to the earth to establish His millennial Kingdom after the Tribulation Period. And that subsequent to His millennial reign, He will judge the unsaved at the Great White Throne Judgment (Matthew 25:31; I Thessalonians 4:16; James 5:8; Hebrews 10:37; Revelation 20:6).
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the personality of the Holy Spirit, that He is God. He convicts the world of sin; baptizes, indwells, seals all true believers in Christ, fills those yielded to God, and sets the believer apart to a holy life; to keep and to empower the believer day by day. He is the Teacher of God’s Word and the Guide for our daily life (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:13; John 3:5; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 6:19: Titus 3:5).
Humanity
We believe that human beings were created pure and in the image of God, that by choice they sinned and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sin nature and are hopelessly lost apart from the grace of God, absolutely incapable of saving themselves by their own works being dead in their trespasses and sins (Genesis 1:26-27, 3:19; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-2; Psalm 14:2-3).
The Church
We believe that the Church, established at Pentecost, is the body and bride of Christ that consists of true believers who have been redeemed and washed in His blood, regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit and saved to serve. The purpose of the Church is the glorification of God by bringing the unsaved to salvation in Christ through evangelism and believers to maturity in Christ through discipleship, even to the uttermost parts of the earth (Matthew 16:18; 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; 2 Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:11-13, 5:24-25, 30; I Corinthians 12:13, 27).
Salvation
We believe we are saved solely by grace, through faith in the blood sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe that all who personally receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become eternally secure children of God (John 1:11-13, 3:5-6, 10:28-29; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 16:31; Romans 5:1; 10:9-10).
Church Ordinances
We believe that the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed in obedience to the commands of our Lord. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death until He comes. Baptism by immersion is a testimony, portraying the union of the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. We believe water baptism is an outward sign of an inward work of grace and that every believer should be baptized in obedience to God’s command (Matthew 28:19-20; I Corinthians 11:23-26; Romans 6:3-5; Colossians 2:12).
Resurrection and Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the lost, the everlasting blessedness of the saved to eternal life and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost to judgment and everlasting punishment (1 Corinthians 15:52; Philippians 3:20-21; Luke 20:35-36; John 3:14-15, 3:36, 5:24; Revelation 20:10-15).
Spiritual Gifts
We believe that to equip believers to serve God, the Holy Spirit has given them spiritual gifts. While some of the spiritual gifts provided for use by the early church are no longer provided today (namely tongues, miracles and healings), God Himself continues to perform miracles and grant healing in accordance with His Will (Romans 12:4-8; Ephesians 4:11-13).
Angels, Demons and Satan
We believe that God created all the angels holy, but they now exist in both fallen and un-fallen states. Satan is a personal being, the author of the fall and ruler of this world system; he maintains spiritual warfare with Christ and His Church; his destiny is eternal punishment (Gen. 3:15; Job 1:6-7; Psalm 148:2; Jude 6; Matt. 25:41; Col. 1:16; Rev. 20:10; Ephesians 6:11, 12).
